Inspirational Quotes

Before every game, the captains always hand out inspirational quotes to help get the team fired up.  Someone reads them out loud and then the captains make their pre-game speech.  Here are some of them:

"Do you remember why you play, or has it been too long?  Is it because you've worked so hard to get where you are, or because you love to be part of a team?  Is it because you love the roar of the crows, or the anxiety before a game?  Is it because you don't want to let anyone down, or yourself?  Is it because you love the sound of a perfect goal, or because you would rather be on the ice than anywhere else in the world?  Somewhere between the athlete you've become, and the hours of practice, and the coaches who pushed you, and the teammates who believe in you, and the fans who cheer for you, is the little girl who shot the puck, made the save- the one who fell in love with the game and never looked back.  Play for her."

"Never give up, never give in, and when the upper hand is ours, may we have the ability to handle the win with the dignity that we absorbed the loss."

"Here's to the face-offs, goals, assists, overtime, livin' on the road, cold drink, early mornings, breakaways, goin' top shelf, countless hours of practice, wet skates, thousands of dollars, talkin' with the girls in the locker room, dangling, big hits, broken twigs, new skates, coaches, pick ups, fights, let downs, miracles, and most of all, the game, hockey..."

"Great moments are born from great opportunities.  And that's what you have here today, [girls].  That's what you've earned here, today.  One game.  If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.  But not this game.  Not today.  Today, we skate with 'em.  Today, we stay with 'em and we shut them down because we can!  Today, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.  You were born to be hockey players--every one of you.  And you were mean to be here today.  This is your time.  Their time--is done.  It's over.  I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great team [insert team here] has.  This is your time!  Now go out there and take it!!!"  --pre game speech from the Disney movie "Miracle" (as performed by Kurt Russell)

"Forget past mistakes.  Forget failures.  Forget everything except what you're going to do now, and do it."
               --William James Durant
