Saturday, January 5, 2008

Final Score: NDA 54, MVRHS 21

After a one and a half hour car ride, a forty five minute ferry ride, and an estimated thirty minutes of just sitting around waiting, the Cougars walked into the Regional High School on Martha's Vineyard. Most teams can not endure the travel but the Cougars proved that they are unlike many other team with a showy 23-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Coach Barrett was very shocked when the starters came out and scored the first twelve points of the game on fast break lay-ups and jump shots. He anticipated that the game would have a rough start, but his veteran squad proved him wrong and took advantage of the slower Vineyarder's early in the game. Entering the second half, the Cougars took a new strategy when playing against the Vineyarder's by waiting for the open lay up on the offensive side of the court and pulling out of any fast break situation. The Cougars proved to be a disciplined team when they walked out of the gym with a solid victory.
